Trick steps back from GIANTX; Torok joins as a new head coach by interim.
Having narrowly secured a spot in the playoffs of the LVP Superliga 2024 Summer Season, GIANTX Pride is now announcing changes to its coaching staff. The team's former head coach, Trick (Kim Gang-yun), was compelled to return to South Korea due to personal reasons. To take his place, the team has welcomed former NLC and Prime League coach Torok (James Thomsen), who found himself without a home following an incident involving the now-defunct organization Lionscreed. At this time, Torok also fulfills the role of positional coach for Fear x Starforge in the NACL.
A Trial By Fire
At this time, it is unclear when the internal changes occurred, but information shared by the organization indicates that the team had already transitioned to a different coaching structure for the last few match days of the split. According to GIANTX, before welcoming Torok, the current head of esports at GIANTX, Lozark (David Alonso Vicente), stepped in towards the end of the summer regular season and took over the duties of the South Korean coach.
Though the team has continued to grow over the last few weeks and appears to be on an upswing, GIANTX Pride now finds itself with its back against the wall. Having ended the group stage in sixth place, the team is now facing a very strong opponent in Ramboot Club. Despite the recent changes, GIANTX will have to prove themselves tonight as they face this formidable opponent.
