GameWard also made Toffe an offer, which he declined
After a stellar 2024, BDS Academy face a complete rebuild. The five players who led the organization to victory in the LFL Summer Split and the subsequent EMEA Masters have all signed with new clubs for the upcoming season, four of which are joining the LEC. However, for next year, the first piece in BDS Academy’s new lineup will be Tautvydas “Toffe” Gegeckas, sources tell Sheep Esports. At just 19, the Lithuanian midlaner remains largely unknown to the public. Toffe first tested Tier 2 EMEA in the GLL during the Summer of 2022, then remained in Greece through 2023.
Benelux champion
Absent from the competitive circuit during the Spring of 2024, he joined the Elite Series for the Summer, winning the Benelux League with mCon esports. This accomplishment earned him a brief taste of the EMEA Masters Main Event, though his team exited at the Swiss Stage (1-4). Toffe also caught the interest of another team this offseason: GameWard reportedly made him an offer, which he declined.
A Roster of Rookies
Toffe’s signing at BDS Academy may initially raise more questions than excitement among the public, but it reflects the club’s commitment to building a rookie roster for the 2025 season. BDS Academy are the last team to get their first new player, while many of their competitors have already filled their rosters. Whether BDSA can remain competitive with a roster of rookie players assembled late in the offseason is uncertain, but the organization has proven adept at nurturing talent. Now, it’s Toffe’s turn to shine.
