Barça eSorts will face Los Heretics in the Superliga Grand Final
Barça eSports will have its shot at redemption. After being overwhelmed by Los Heretics in the Superliga Summer 2024 final, the Catalan team secured a place in the Winter Split 2025 grand final this Thursday, where the reigning champions await. In the lower bracket final, Barça defeated the newly promoted Veni Vidi Vici 3-1. After conceding the first game, the team responded emphatically, winning the next three in under 30 minutes. Sergio Vicente “Legolas” Gispert was instrumental in the midgame, amassing 29 kills to just two deaths across his team's three victories.
Barça eSports' journey through these playoffs has been nothing short of miraculous. In the previous round, the team trailed 0-2 in its best-of-five series against GIANTX Pride and found itself 9.7k gold behind in game 3. GXP’s AD Carry, Berat “Aetinoth” Tıknazoğlu, even typed in all-chat: “Let us finish.” Yet, Barça managed to claw its way back, fending off its opponent’s first match point before completing a stunning reverse sweep.
A four-match winning streak
Having halted its downward spiral against GIANTX Pride's academy, the team must do the same against Heretics. Recent history, indeed, does not favor the Barcelona squad. Beyond the Summer 2024 final, Los Heretics are riding a four-match winning streak against their upcoming challengers. Kacper “Daglas” Dagiel and his teammates have already defeated Barça twice in the 2025 season—once on the opening day of the regular season and again in the first round of the Swiss Stage in a grueling 45-minute battle.

By qualifying for the final, Barça eSports has also secured its spot at the EMEA Masters Winter. Superliga is one of only three ERLs—alongside France’s LFL and Germany’s Prime League—that benefit from two slots in the competition, thanks to their representatives' strong performances over the past two seasons. Much of this success can be attributed to Heretics, who reached the semifinals in both previous editions. The Superliga final, set for March 6 at 6 p.m. CET, will not only determine Spain’s champions but also decide which team claims the region’s top seed at the EMEA Masters.
