After years as an LCS franchise partner, 100 Thieves is set to change its partnership status
With the Americas region merger on the horizon, 100 Thieves has reached an agreement with Riot to change its status from an LCS partner to a 'Provisional Guest Partner' in the debut North Conference. This designation is ambiguous, and it's undecided what will happen with their spot in 2026 — however, unlike DSG, the first-ever NACL Guest team, they will not have to play in the promotion tournament at the end of the year.
It remains unclear whether or not 100 Thieves will stay in the league past the 2025 season, and, even if they do, it's unknown what their continued participation in the space would look like. For now, the 'Provisional Guest Partner' title gives Riot and 100T time to negotiate and find a plan that works for both parties.
In all likelihood, though, the 2025 season could be 100T's final season competing in League of Legends. With River re-signing with the organization, the team is looking at ADC options as it starts to wrap up its offseason.
A Historic LCS Organization
100T joined the LCS as a franchise partner in 2018, charging out of the gate with a first-place finish in the Spring regular season. Though they finished second in the playoffs and didn't make top three in the Summer playoffs, they qualified for Worlds with Championship Points — all things considered, it was a highly successful first year.
The team has qualified for four World Championships in seven seasons, and won an LCS trophy — though they've never consistently been the best team in the league, they've consistently battled towards top placements and built a loyal fanbase. If this truly is their last season, it'll be a major disappointment for fans that have already seen core brands like TSM and CLG depart in recent years.
