VAL Esport is back in China
Riot Games has just confirmed on Weibo that the VCT Champions 2026 will be held in Shanghai. After hosting the Masters in 2024, China will now welcome its second international VALORANT LAN, this time featuring the most prestigious tournament of the season, which will crown the World Champion. This year, the competition will take place in Paris, from September 12 to October 5, while North America is already set to host the 2027 edition.
Already teased for quite some time, the North American publisher has officially confirmed that China will host the World Championship at the end of the 2026 season. While the exact dates have yet to be revealed, the tournament is expected to take place between late September and early October—similar to recent editions, like Champions Paris, which is just a few weeks away.
At the 2024 Masters, it was Gen.G Esports who came out on top, beating Team Heretics in a tightly contested grand final that ended 3-2 in favor of the South Korean organization. This year, it’s the French capital that will host the event. So far, only G2 Esports has secured its spot through the four international leagues. The rest of the VCT teams are currently battling it out in Stage 2 to determine who will qualify for Champions.
