"I believe the most important thing is to be confident in your own skillsets."
With T1's debut in the MSI 2024 Bracket Stage rapidly approaching, Zeus shares his excitement for his upcoming match against G2. Having had a long history against one another, the two organizations are ready to face off in an intense battle to advance to the next round. Zeus discusses the team's readiness, strategic adjustments, and his approach to overcoming recent criticisms.
| How excited are you to face G2? Are you looking forward to taking revenge after the Red Blue League of Its Own event in December?
Zeus: "Yeah, as you said, I'm so happy that we got this chance to get our revenge on G2. So, I'm very delighted that we had this opportunity, and we'll make sure that we're prepared to deliver a great match and also seek our revenge."
| G2 is considered by many to be the best team from the Western regions. Do you agree with this statement, and what do you think we can expect from this match?
Zeus: "I know, I’m aware that G2 has a lot of titles, and they always make it to international tournaments. I do think that a lot of people also believe that they are really good and maybe the top team in the Western region, but I also believe that being good in the LEC, versus being good and playing well on the international stage is quite different."
"I would say in the upcoming match G2 vs T1, I think you can definitely predict and expect some new things. I believe that we will attempt to do something differently and that will, in turn, make for a very different match for everybody."
| How was your experience playing the play-in? Do you think that it allowed you to get a better grasp on the meta as well and prepare better for the main event?
Zeus: "Yeah, I definitely think that it helped us in many different ways in regard to the meta and overall preparation, just because whenever you get on a big stage after a long time, it may not go as well as you normally do. So being able to get that chance to perform on a big stage in the middle actually does help a lot."
| Are you confident that you guys will be able to show up again at MSI and perhaps win the entire tournament?
Zeus: "Yeah, of course, I don't dwell too much on our results locally in the LCK, just because we didn't win the title. But we like to consider MSI as a whole new tournament."
"So as long as we're able to adapt well and showcase our skill sets, if we can prove that we are the better players, I'm sure we will be able to win MSI."
| You have received a lot of criticism as of late. What do you personally think of your level of play? What is your reaction to this negative feedback?
Zeus: "I believe that in terms of my own performance, I know myself the best. Thus, I believe that this kind of feedback doesn't exactly affect me too much. I only think about how I can improve and play better in the upcoming tournaments."
| You've been a part of T1 since the start of your career. Having one of the largest fanbases in South Korea, have you ever felt pressure to meet your fans' large expectations?
Zeus: "I don't think the mental pressure of being part of the biggest org or being under the spotlight all the time really matters in the end, as long as you are skilled. Therefore, I believe the most important thing is to be confident in your own skillsets."
| You were eliminated by BLG at MSI 2023. Are you hoping to rematch against them later on in the tournament?
Zeus: "We defeated them once, and even if it was very back and forth, I think we did pretty well against BLG last year. I believe that Gen.G, TES, and BLG are all strong teams."
"So, what really matters in the end is how adaptable we are, how much more adaptability and skill we possess compared to the other team."
