Soren shone on the Open Tour, before joining Akroma in the VCL France
Karmine Corp have secured their fourth Blue Star. According to sources from Sheep Esports, David “soren” Soth will join the organization’s academy project in VCL France. He joins Khoury “Yohpa” Baptiste, Roman “f4ngeer” Smirnov, and Ethan “Sevire” Starke on the roster. The Duelist made his debut on the French scene in 2023, competing in the Open Tour.
Soren’s breakthrough came in Stage 2, where he and his teammates emerged victorious. Representing Colors Esports from Stage 4 onward, the team delivered a series of strong performances, including winning the Coupe de France's Open Qualifier. This victory earned them the chance to compete against the country’s top players in the tournament. Impressively, Soren and Colors managed to reach the playoffs, though they were eliminated in the first round.
A tough start in the VCL
He remained with Colors for the start of the 2024 Open Tour season before being picked up by Akroma for VCL France Split 2. However, his first outing in the league proved challenging. With a 0.81 rating 2.0 across the split—one of the lowest in the league—Soren’s journey with Akroma ended with the team finishing in sixth place. Despite this rocky start, the 20-year-old will now have a second chance to showcase his talent within Karmine Corp's academy setup.
KC have been permitted to open this second team thanks to Riot Games’ recent policy change, allowing VCT EMEA teams to establish academy rosters within the VCL system. Previously prohibited, the rule change has enabled Karmine Corp to launch their project, an announcement celebrated during the KCX4 at the U Arena in Paris on November 9. Karmine Corp aren’t alone in embracing this new landscape: KOI (VCL Spain) and Team Liquid (VCL North/East) have also launched academy projects.
