Geekay Esports aims for a fourth Arabian League title in a row and to bounce back at EMEA Masters
Geekay Esports has completed its lineup for the 2025 Summer Split, sources tell Sheep Esports. The Arabian League champions have reached an agreement with Swedish ADC William "UNF0RGIVEN" Nieminen, Lithuanian jungler Edgaras "Eckas" Strazdauskas, and Syrian support Abdulkader "B Butcher" Halwani. Former Solary and Galions' coach Aymerick "Hairost" Sergeant has also taken over as head coach.
The reason the Arabian League champions are changing their roster—and allowed their entire previous lineup to explore other options—is due to a budget reduction. However, that hasn't stopped them from rebuilding a lineup that, at least on paper, should still be the favorite to win the league.
Despite the roster changes, Geekay is sticking with the duo that brought them the most success in Spring: Toplaner Mohamed “Boda” Yahia, who has been with the team since the start of the year, and Midlaner Ahmad “Giyuu” Charif, both of which joined the team in 2023 and explored their options this offseason. For the record, Giyuu has been present for all four of the organization’s titles since the Arabian League was rebranded in 2023.
Aiming to rule over EMEA
Boda had the opportunity to move abroad last offseason, with interest from both the LFL and the TCL, but chose to stay in the Arabian League and continue his journey in the league with Geekay. So far, the bet has paid off. He’s won both splits this year. But now, both he and Giyuu are aiming higher. With their domestic dominance firmly established, the goal is to conquer EMEA Masters. Last year, Geekay made history as the first MENA team to reach the semifinals of the competition. But this Spring, the story was very different: Geekay crashed out early after a disappointing group stage exit at the hands of ZennIT, despite being favored to reach at least the quarterfinals.
UNF0RGIVEN is the standout signing, coming to the AL for the first time after a solid run with Movistar KOI Fénix in the Superliga, where he placed top 8 in Spring. A former LEC All‑Pro First Team member with MAD Lions in Summer 2022, UNF0RGIVEN brings elite-tier experience and teamfighting prowess to a region where mechanical dominance often decides games. Alongside him is Eckas, also from KOI’s academy team. Known for his tempo-based jungle style, Eckas has competed across top ERLs and was part of the Giants roster that won the Iberian Cup in 2020.
Rounding out the new arrivals is Syrian support Abdulkader “B Butcher” Halwani, who made a name for himself with Fog Esports earlier this year. A finalist in the Arabian League Winter 2025 split and a playoff staple in Spring, Butcher is a respected name in the MENA scene and brings a stable, aggressive presence to lane. Together, the trio offers Geekay a balanced blend of experience, mechanical firepower, and regional dominance.
