The Korean Toplaner was also considered by Karmine Corp
Dplus KIA Challengers Toplaner Park "Thanatos" Seung-gyu is set to join Cloud9 for the LCS Summer Split of 2024, sources tell Sheep Esports. The 19-year-old player will be replacing longstanding Cloud9 Toplaner Ibrahim "Fudge" Allami who has played for the North American organization since 2020. While a verbal agreement has been reached, note that this deal has yet to be signed.
During his time with Cloud9, Fudge managed to qualify three time to the World Championship and earn a few LCS titles. However, despite a decent third split finish this Spring Split, Cloud9 has failed to meet some expectations. Indeed, the team was initially really hyped coming into this year after managing to aquire Midlaner Joseph Joon "Jojopyun" Pyun over an LCK team.
While the Cloud9 roster isn't locked for next split yet, the team has also already acquired a new Head Coach as reported on Sheep Esports earlier today.
LEC organization Karmine Corp, who are currently exploring the market for several roles, were also interested in the prospect from South-Korea. Ultimately, the 19-year-old Toplaner, opted to join the LCS team instead.
Last offseason, Dplus KIA considered promoting Thanatos alongside Jungler Choi "Lucid" Yong-hyeok in the LCK. However, rumours are that the team was afraid to have too many rookies. Thanatos has been an outstanding talent in the LCK Challengers League, he has namely earned two Finals MVP titles in the league.
