Piwek will make his debut in the LFL with BDSA
BDS Academy (BDSA) have reached a verbal agreement with rising ADC Kamil "Piwek" Staroń for the upcoming LFL season, sources have told Sheep Esports. His arrival from LFL Div2 highlights BDSA's renewed focus on nurturing emerging talent, reflecting a shift in strategy after a dominant 2024 season. Following the promotion of several core players to the LEC, the team is retooling its lineup to build a roster with promising young talents at its core, aiming for sustained competitive success.
2.5 years in Div2
The player returns to Tier 1 ERL after competing in the GLL in 2021, where he finished second in the Winter Split, and then in the Ultraliga in early 2022, experiencing much less success. He joined the Prime League Div2 between splits, where he never escaped the mid-table with TT willhaben in Summer.
In 2023, he spent a full year with AL willhaben in Prime League Div2, winning both splits (Spring and Summer) and losing only one BO5 series throughout the year. However, they fell short during the Up&Down matches against two Prime League teams and could not advance the organization. After that, he played a year in LFL Div 2 with IziDream in 2024.
He joined the team with the ambition to bring them back to LFL but was unsuccessful. Alongside Kamil "Kamiloo" Haudegond, who is expected to move to the LEC next year with Team Heretics as reported by Sheep Esports, he finished second in both the Spring and Summer splits, losing each time in the grand finals to Ici Japon Corp. They also competed in the Up&Down matches but were again defeated by Ici Japon Corp, which were successfully promoted to LFL for the following year. With Piwek's ascent to LFL by joining BDSA, he will have another chance to take revenge on Ici Japon Corp in 2025.
A Roster of Rookies
As part of BDS Academy's new strategy of recruiting and developing lesser-known talent, they confirmed their third roster addition for 2025 with Piwek, following last week’s verbal agreements with Tautvydas "Toffe" Gegeckas and Mohamed "Myrtus" Rahli, as reported by Sheep Esports. Entering the offseason market later than most, BDSA are the last team to begin assembling their lineup for the LFL season. Whether BDSA can remain competitive with a roster of rookie players assembled late in the offseason is uncertain, but the organization has proven in the past their capacity to nurture talent. Now the team only lacks their topside to complete their roster.
BDS Academy's reported 2025 roster:
- Top: ?
- Jungle: ?
- Mid: Tautvydas “Toffe” Gegeckas
- ADC: Kamil "Piwek" Staroń
- Support: Mohamed "Myrtus" Rahli
