Nayas has been working with Kamiloo since May 2023
When one of our former contributors asked Kamil “Kamiloo” Haudegond on X this Wednesday who had been the best coach he’d worked with, the new Team Heretics midlaner responded, “Nayas, by far.” This comment, it turns out, was a foreshadowing: according to Sheep Esports sources, Victor “Nayas” Quevrin has indeed reached a verbal agreement to join the Spanish team as an Individual Coach for the upcoming LEC season. Although they hadn’t officially worked together since last December, Kamiloo and Nayas, who first met at Atletec in May 2023, have continued collaborating closely.
With this recruitment, Team Heretics want to give themselves the means to win with a risky but historic choice of having promoted a prospect directly from an ERL 2 to the LEC, bypassing the ERL1 stage. Like his midlaner, Nayas will need to prove himself, given his relatively short resume: he began coaching in the fall of 2022 with teams in the third tier of French League of Legends, the Mastercard Nexus Tour. Notably, the MNT final of this year between Colors and Kaeru Gyanug featured a majority of players who had trained under Nayas’s guidance.
Nayas’s coaching career quickly progressed when he joined Atletec (alongside Kamiloo) as a Positional Coach for the LFL Division 2 Summer Split. The team saw a resurgence, reaching the split finals after placing only 8th in Spring. Nayas’s ascent continued as he found a role in the LFL with Solary in 2024. The “team of friends” initially brought him on as an Assistant Coach, ahead of his future Head Coach, Ismaël “Cook” Lakel—the one who had recommended him to Solary.
Challenge Asian Supremacy
However, his experience in the LFL was mixed. Plagued by Solary's longstanding curse in the French championship, the team once again fell short of EMEA Masters qualification. In both Spring and Summer, Solary were unlucky in the final weeks or key matches, narrowly missing playoff contention with two seventh-place finishes. Despite this, Nayas continues his epic journey to the top, with the idea of training the new generation of talent that will challenge Asian supremacy.
This new additional coach position is betting on continuity around young talent for which Nayas makes sense. Beyond Kamiloo, Heretics have assembled a promising lineup centered around Victor “Flakked” Lirola and comprised mostly of rising young players: toplaner Carl Ulsted “Carlsen” Carlsen, jungler Théo “Sheo” Borile, and support Paul “Stend” Lardin.
Los Heretics, the academy team of Heretics competing in the superliga is also fielding multiple rookies for 2025. Indeed, Nayas work will also be to help the various players around Jan "SAJATOR" Zítek to develop as well. Team Heretics made this additional hire to offer more support to the many rookies on both 2025 rosters.
While this approach marks a departure from their 2024 roster, which featured several veteran players, it aligns closely with the strategy they used to build a world-class VALORANT team.
