An underdog in the Benelux, Myth Esports aims to surprise and shock the competition.
Dutch organization Myth Esports have now secured a roster formed around top laner Septico1, jungler Anonymouss, mid laner LorLor, bot laner Mean, and support Mahonix to compete in the Elite Series: League of Legends (ESLOL), according to sources close to Sheep Esports. To lead the team, Myth Esports have also secured the support of Ralph "arendmen" Tesselhof, with Simon "MrSleepzz" van Asselt assisting.
Dark Horses Arise
Having just completed its first year in the Elite Series, Myth Esports now thirsts to assert itself as a strong local contender after tasting victory at the Benelux Masters in 2023. Hungry for more, the team made great strides this offseason to sign storied coach and three-time champion arendmen.
While sources indicate that the team has gone through several iterations this offseason, Myth Esports now looks ahead with its five starting members decided. With three weeks ahead of the ESLOL's start on June 4th, the team is now set to begin practicing this week, with the goal of breaking past its limitations and ascending beyond its current status as outsiders.
From the start of the offseason, Myth Esports has been one of the most proactive teams in the Benelux, having signed its new coaching staff as early as late April. Sources indicate that the team also attempted to work with several storied local talents such as Rob "Robba" Zoon, Michael "Mikkel" Nguyen, or Fabian "Seal" de Lint, who unfortunately ended up joining other teams or were unable to compete. The team also expressed much interest in Dutch rookies Jeroen "Ferrari" Cretier and Lars "Guppy" de Rijke, who ultimately did not make it past trials.
One of the biggest points of interest for this team will be the return of Ahmet Cihan "Mean" Battal to competitive League of Legends. Having competed in the Turkish region from 2014 to 2019, the bot laner proves to be one of the most experienced players on this roster, despite not having competed in the past four years. Mean was most known for competing in the VALORANT Champions Tour in 2021. A player to watch, Mean is expected to be the member that will make or break Myth Esports in the Summer Split.
Regardless, his other teammates are not to be forgotten about. Coming off an impressive spring season with SPIKE Syndicate, Cristian "Septico1" Axinte is also expected to represent one of the team's star members. A top lane pillar, the Romanian player has had much experience in various regions, though he still yearns to earn himself a championship title. Septico1 most recently participated in the EMEA Masters, narrowly missing out on a Main Stage appearance after losing to BoostGate Esports in a 1:2 scoreline.
Additionally, the organization is now also set to welcome back Konstantin "Anonymouss" Kain and Lior "LorLor" Haviv, who respectively competed with the organization in the Benelux Masters 2023 and the ESLOL 2023 Summer Split. In the spring season, the jungler competed with Lupus Esports in the EBL, ending in 4th place. On the other hand, the mid laner, LorLor, did not compete in the first half of 2024, as he had to take a break from competitive play for personal reasons.
Rounding up the roster, Anthonie "Mahonix" van Bemmelen will be joining the newly formed team as one of its locally trained residents. Not having achieved great results within the ESLOL, the Dutch support will be tasked to prove himself in a rather exciting roster. In the past, Mahonix competed for mCon esports and ZennIT locally, while also having competed in the Prime League 2nd Division.
