He will be the org's centrepiece if it joins the Spanish VCL.
Coach Lucas Rojo has reached a verbal agreement with Barça eSports to join the team's VALORANT squad if it successfully joins the VCL Spain: Rising, according to Sheep Esports sources.
Back-to-Back Champion
According to a report by Lembo this week, FC Barcelona is looking to make an entry into competitive VALORANT. Though the deal is not yet finalized at the time of writing this article, insider information indicate that Barça has now almost concluded its entry into the VCL Spain.
With the acquisition of current back-to-back Spanish champion Lucas Rojo, the team is looking to start strong in its roster-building by bringing one of the most accomplished coaches in the region onto its staff. As reported earlier this month, Case Esports has already found a replacement to its coach position by signing Rodrigo "Onur" Dalmagro.
In 2023, Lucas Rojo proved to be an instrumental piece to CASE's roster, bringing the team towards two consecutive first place finishes in the Spanish regional league. Unfortunately, the team would walter in the VCT EMEA Ascension tournament, failing to win a single game and ending its group stage in last position.
Prior to his involvement with Case Esports, Lucas Rojo was also known for his tenure under G2 Esports as an analyst, having helped the team in the VCT 2021. He also performed other coaching stints under teams such as Wygers, Movistar Riders, and Dark Ratio (who would go on to be acquired by MAD Lions).
