Hairost won the LFL Spring Split 2023 with LDLC OL
Aymerick “Hairost” Sergeant is about to bounce back. After a frustrating summer with Solary in the LFL, the Head Coach has reached a verbal agreement with Team GO for the next season of the French league of League of Legends, according to Sheep Esports sources. Hairost is already familiar with the club, having coached the academy team in Division 2 in 2021. However, it was only the following year, with IziDream, that Hairost began to add trophies to his list of achievements. The Blue Phoenix flew through Div2 in 2022 - despite a loss in the Spring Split final against MCES - and thus enabled its coach to win his very first title, in Summer.
Things then accelerated for Hairost, who discovered the LFL for the first time in the spring of 2023. It wasn’t just any team, as Hairost had the onerous task of succeeding Quentin “Zeph” Viguié - now with MAD Lions KOI - on the LDLC OL bench. The Foxes were coming off a perfect 2022 year in LFL, during which they had won both splits of the season. Hairost's debut with the Lyon club was idyllic: in the spring of 2023, the team won a third consecutive title in the French league (sweeping Team GO 3-0 in the grand final). However, the Summer Split was a trickier affair, with LDLC finishing in 9th place for the last split in their history.
Playing for the title... but with GO
At the beginning of 2024, Hairost joined the crew of OTP, the main French broadcaster. However, it wasn't long before the coach was back in business, signing on with a new team in the Summer Split: Solary. Hairost's arrival was to enable Solary to finally break through the glass ceiling preventing them from (really) playing for the title. But even Hairost ultimately failed to ward off the curse that has afflicted the “team of friends” since its creation: after a disastrous end to the split, Solary missed out on qualification for the playoffs and, more importantly, the first EMEA Masters in their history.
At GO, Hairost takes over from another coach well known to the French public, Hadrien “Duke” Forestier (happy birthday). The “Homo Draftus” helped the Red Storm stay in the top tier of the LFL and win the Coupe de France in 2023. But since their two-title year in 2020, GO have never touched the LFL trophy again. In 2024 in particular, the team played in the shadow of BDS Academy and Karmine Corp Blue, but also of Vitality Bee, who eliminated it from the playoffs in both splits of the season. GO are changing direction, and Hairost is now in charge.
