After ruling over Europe, G2 revamped their roster by bringing in the immensely talented rookie jungler Skewmond as well as the seasoned veteran Labrov as their support.
After a full year of historic dominance in Europe, G2 Esports are parting ways with two of their players. Despite achieving the "Grand Slam"—winning all three splits of the year as well as the Season Finals in Munich last September—G2 remain unsatisfied with their international performances. Determined to shake things up after two years with the same roster, they are seeking a fresh start.
To that end, G2 have chosen to retain their solo laners, Rasmus "Caps" Winther and Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik, along with their AD Carry, Steven "Hans Sama" Liv, all three of whom are arguably the best players in Europe in their respective roles. However, Martin "Yike" Sundelin and Mihael "Mikyx" Mehle will be leaving the roster, with their departures announced less than 24 hours after the team’s disappointing exit from Worlds.
According to Sheep Esports sources, G2 are embracing change, bringing in the rookie jungler Rudy "SkewMond" Semaan, who had an outstanding year in the ERL scene with BDS Academy in the LFL, and pairing him with veteran support Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis, who competed in the LEC this year alongside IcE for Team BDS
Breaking the ceiling
Despite their long-standing reign as the uncontested kings of Europe and guardians of Caps’ legacy, the team’s lineup has begun to show its age. In response, they’re reshuffling the deck by bringing in a highly promising rookie and shaking up the bot lane dynamic, replacing Mikyx, who struggled on the international stage this year. To guide this revamped roster, the team will rely on an experienced coaching staff led for the fourth year in a row by Head Coach Dylan "Dylan Falco" Falco and his staff including Head Analyst Rodrigo "Rodrigo" Domingues Oliveira, Assistant Coach Jonas “Memento” Elmarghichi and Performance Coach Ismael "Isma" Pedraza, ensuring a balance of fresh talent and veteran oversight.
