dyNquedo had participated in one edition of MSI (2018) and two Worlds (2018, 2024)
A prominent figure in the Brazilian League of Legends has announced his retirement. paiN Gaming’s midlaner, Matheus “dyNquedo” Rossini, revealed his decision to step away from the competitive scene during a stream on Wednesday. At 27, dyNquedo played his final professional match on February 15 in the LTA Cross Conference quarter-finals, where his team suffered a 0-2 defeat against 100 Thieves. This loss ended his hopes of competing in the fourth international event of his career—a spot ultimately secured by Team Liquid, the LTA champions and the region’s sole representative at First Stand.
Before this season, dyNquedo had participated in one edition of MSI (2018) and two Worlds (2018, 2024). While he attended the first two under the banner of KaBuM! Esports, his most memorable international run came just a few months ago with his current team. In 2024, PNG made history becoming the first CBLOL team—the former league's name before the merger with North America—to qualify for the Main Event since the introduction of the play-in stage. Competing in the Swiss Stage, dyNquedo and his teammates faced off against G2 Esports, Liquid, and, most notably, reigning world champions T1, who were on their way to their second consecutive title. However, paiN failed to secure a single victory and became the first team eliminated from the tournament.
"dyN has not left the paiN family"
DyNquedo’s three international appearances coincided with the three domestic titles he claimed throughout his career, which began in 2017. He won both CBLOL splits in 2018 with KaBuM! and later lifted the Split 2 trophy in 2024 with paiN Gaming. His list of achievements could have been even more extensive, having reached the CBLOL finals on four other occasions—twice in 2022, the year he joined paiN. In a farewell message, the organization emphasized that “dyN has not left the paiN family. We offer him our full support as he considers the next steps in his career.” His replacement has yet to be announced, with LTA South Split 2 set to begin on April 5.
