KC drops another game, but has still only lost one BO3 so far
Week 4 of the LEC got off to a calm start. Fnatic secured two convincing wins against Rogue in just 27 minutes, earning themselves a very comfortable position at the top of the standings. Meanwhile, Karmine Corp also strongly showed against a determined GIANTX squad, remaining in first place with 5 wins out of 6 games.
Rogue is still mathematically in the race
Rogue is the exact inverse of Karmine Corp on the standings, with 5 losses in 6 games. Today, they were thoroughly outplayed by a Fnatic — the Black and Orange were simply better in every aspect of the game. Rogue now clings to only a slim hope of reaching the top 6 and qualifying for the Spring Playoffs. That journey begins with a must-win match on Monday against SK Gaming. As for Fnatic, they continue to move forward effortlessly. Since their slip-up against SK two weeks ago, they've found more stability both individually and as a team. They'll face a tougher test next week against Movistar KOI.
KC gave themselves a scare once again. They lost Game 2 despite having built up a solid gold lead of over 8k and a huge performance from Kim "Canna" Chang-dong on Gnar. We didn’t see their usual teamfight coordination, which is usually their biggest strength. Instead, it was Oh "Noah" Hyeon-taek’s Xayah that shone, giving GX a spark of hope. However, they bounced back in Game 3, which ended well thanks to the scaling power of the Kog’Maw/Viktor duo, combined with the control provided by Maokai and Braum. In the end, Karmine Corp holds on to their position at the top of the LEC standings, while GX still can't seem to find the answer.
They're currently second to last in the league with only one win in five matches. There were some positives to take away from this series, and even though the standings aren’t in their favor, they’ll need to keep pushing in their upcoming games. Out of their four remaining matches, they’ll have to go up against top-tier teams like G2 and MKOI, as well as direct playoff race rivals like BDS and Team Heretics.
Tomorrow, Team Heretics and Team Vitality face off in a crucial match in the race for the Playoffs, while BDS takes on a tough challenge against G2 Esports. Kick-off at 5 PM at the Riot Games Arena in Berlin.
