Advienne, former LEC player, will replace Raïto as a support for IJC during the Up & Down to access LFL
In a statement released this Monday, Ici Japon Corp Esport announced that Henk "Advienne" Reijenga will take over the support role from Thomas "Raïto" Kissel during the Up & Down matches between LFL and Div2, which will take place from September 4th to 6th. This decision comes after IJC's outstanding first year in French second division of League of Legends, where they won both splits in a very dominant manner.
In a series of tweets, Raïto explains that it was a sporting decision take in concertation with the entire team but in which he didn't really have a say. While expressing his disappointment, he also mentions that he hopes to see the team qualify for the LFL and that he is currently in a bootcamp in Berlin with the team, as he will indeed be playing in the Coupe de France, which starts on September 7th.
For his part, Advienne explains that he was initially only supposed to support the team as an assistant coach, but he was faced with a complex decision by the club. In response to a comment, he adds that he could have vetoed the club's decision, but he chose not to, in order to give the other four players a better chance of advancing to the LFL and potentially furthering their careers in the ERL as early as 2025.
During the Up&Down, IJC will face IziDream, their rival this year, and Aegis, who must fight to retain their spot in the LFL.
