Esports sets sail as Counter-Strike 2 hits the high seas on Brazil’s flagship warship
Brazil is set to host an unprecedented Counter-Strike 2 tournament aboard a navy aircraft carrier. Organised by the Rio de Janeiro State Federation of Electronic Sports, the event is called Circuito FERJEE 2025 and will take place from 13 to 15 August aboard the NAM Atlântico, the Brazilian Navy’s flagship helicopter carrier. The top Brazilian teams RED Canids, ODDIK, Sharks, and Imperial, have been confirmed to compete for a prize pool of R$250,000 (approximately $46,000). Adding to the spectacle, legendary players Lincoln “fnx” Lau and Fernando “fer” Alvarenga, both back-to-back Major champions in 2016, will serve as analysts on the event's broadcast crew.
While staging a CS2 showdown on a naval ship is a first, South American organisers have already experimented with unconventional venues this year. In April, the FiReLEAGUE Buenos Aires 2025 finals took place on a platform at a Buenos Aires subway station, where Imperial defeated local rivals 9z to claim a $50,000 prize and a place at the Roobet Cup 2025. These out-of-the-box locations highlight the innovative ways in which tournament organisers are bringing esports to new places.
The Circuito FERJEE 2025 not only aims to deliver high-level competition, but also to promote esports in Brazil through innovative engagement. Organised in partnership with the Brazilian Navy and FERJEE, the tournament will be broadcast online with live commentary and analysis. With its spectacular setting and star-studded line-up, this event is set a new standard for immersive, unconventional tournament experiences in South America.
